About Loose Fill
Loose fill, better known as packing peanuts or void fill chips, pours into a box and fills every gap around the product, so it cannot move or hit the sides in transit. It is very light, so it adds almost nothing to the parcel weight. It is sold in 15 cubic foot (about 425 litre) bags, with lower rates for van and truck loads.
- Polystyrene loose fill: the traditional resilient chip, reusable many times
- Bio loose fill: made from corn starch; compostable and dissolves in water
- Bio Ultra: starch-based blue chip with added natural polymers, more resilient than standard bio fill
Put a layer in the bottom of the box, place the item in the centre, then fill around and over it. Shake the box gently so the fill settles before you close it. Wrap very fragile items in bubble wrap first, and use double wall boxes for heavy goods.
How the volume pricing works
The price per pack drops as you order more of one size. The rate is set by the number of packs of that size on your order:
- 1-6 Packs: 1 to 6 packs
- 7-30 Packs: 7 to 30 packs
- Van load (31-60): 31 to 60 packs
- Truck load: 61 packs or more
